Of seasonal change

The leaves turned early this year,
rustling gold by Feb end.
A lone humpback stirred the sea at Little Manly,
weeks before winter's call.
Ants marched through our kitchen
like they knew something we didn’t—
hoarding food in March, when they typically hoard in May.
And the air—cooler, quieter,
as if the season sighed ahead of its time.

It has been getting warmer at the end of July
during the past few years, when it used to turn in Oct.

Nature’s clock ticks differently now.
Have you noticed it too?
